Ethiopian Airport Enterprise will offer wireless internet at Bole,Addis Ababa

Ethiopian Airport Enterprise (EAE) is set to start providing free wireless internet service at Bole International Airport within a month, according to News Business Ethiopia.Com.Passengers will now have access to free internet services in both the old and new terminals, according to the announcement the enterprise made on September 21, 2010. The enterprise has allocated around 244,349 USD for introducing the service in the airport, the officials noted.

Addis Ababa Bole is the main international gateway for the nation and also serving neighboring countries as a hub. It is also the first airport in Africa to operate Bar Coded Boarding Passes (BCBP) for all international flights, two years ahead of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) deadline of 2010.

The operation of BCBP has simplified the check-in and boarding process for more than 3 million passengers who are currently using Addis Ababa Bole.

EAE is in charge of maintaining and administering aerodromes in Ethiopia which is safe, reliable and efficient. It also coordinates passengers and develops non-aeronautical services in the aerodromes that are subject to the performing of security activity.

The enterprise, which made a net profit of around 10 million USD August 2010 average exchange rate for the fiscal year ended July 7, 2010 is currently managing 15 airports.Currently, the enterprise is undertaking reform study that would make it a competent enterprise in Africa in the coming 15 years.
