Ethiopia’s St. George thrashed defending Kagame Cup champions Atraco 3-1 to seal their passage to the final of the regional club competition.

The Ethiopians looked sharp from kick-off and their early dominance paid off in the 20th minute when striker Adane Girma was left unmarked to tap in from close range.

Atraco equalised in the second half from a spot-kick after winger Jabir Mutarambirwa’s cross hit St. George defender Jean Claude Amougo’s arm. Berch Bamuma converted the penalty to send a near-packed Amahoro stadium into a frenzy.

In the 90th minute, Lomami wasted what would later prove to be a costly chance after shooting straight at St. George keeper Samson Assefa.

With the score level at full-time, St. George seized the moment as Salahadin Said and Adane Girma netted two quick goals to quash Atraco’s dream of becoming the first Rwandan side to defend the title.

St. George will now play APR in Saturday’s final.
