the Embassy of Israel in Addis Ababa in cooperation with Ethiopian Airlines are inviting the Media to cover a concert and related events which will take place between the 18th to the 22nd for April, 2010 involving an musician Ethiopian Israeli Mrs. AYALA Alemtela INGEDESHET

According to Wiki Ayala Ingedashet (Hebrew: ????? ???????; born August 21, 1978), born in Ethiopia and lived in Israel from the age of 2. At the age of 14 she joined a youth band in Ashdod and in the military she was part of a Navy band. Her musical influences included Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. She was signed by Israeli record label Hed Arzi, becoming the first Ethiopian-born Israeli singer with a major-label deal. She has since achieved popularity and is performing with acts like Ehud Banai, Mosh Ben-Ari, Jill Scott, and Macy Gray.

Her debut self-titled album came out in March 2007. Today she is considered to be perhaps second only to Kabra Kasai amongst mainstream Ethiopian Israeli singers, having had a successful album by a major label, as well as having performed the Israeli national anthem at the opening of the 2009 Maccabiah Games.

The program in Addis will include the following Venues and dates:

• On 19 April at Hilton Hotel at 6 O’clock P.M – a 45 min. concert on the occasion of 62nd Independence Day of the State of Israel in the presence of Government officials, Diplomatic community and other guests.
• On 20 April at the Wube Bereha Bar&Lounge at 9 O’clock pm (Edna Mall Ground Floor) – a 90 minutes concert open to the public.
• On 21 April at Saint Yared Music School, Addis Ababa University at 10 O’clock a.m – a workshop with music students.

Ayala is an Ethiopian Israeli leading R&B and Soul singer and actress in Israel.
The journey of her carrier as a singer started when she auditioned few years ago for Israel Defense Forces, Navy musical troupe. She is the first Ethiopian to be a member of IDF Music Group.

Ayala immigrated with her family to Israel when she was two years old from Ethiopia. With her mother’s good insight and with the encouragement of the IDF Director she becomes one of the talented artists.

Besides serving the IDF, Ayala had played supporting roles in musical performances and other forms of entertainment in HABIMA National Theater and others.

On 2007 Ayala released her first album, which Ethiopian music has a presence, mainly in the introductions to some of the songs. As she said, she lately felt connected to the Ethiopian music and she would like to explore her roots both personally and professionally.

We hope that this program will be yet another event that will symbolize the strong cultural relationship between the Israeli and Ethiopian people.
