March 1, 2010 – The Ethiopian Democratic Unity Movement (EDUM) and the Somali Democratic Forces Coalition (SDFC) withdrew from the Forum, reports ENA. The reason given was political pressure from the Unity for Democracy and Justice (UDJ), according to the report.

EDUM Chairperson, Guesh Gebre-silassie, said EDUM has quit Forum as the result of the pressure from UDJ, especially on the question of election candidates.

SDFC Deputy Chairperson, Dr. Ahmed Nasir Hassen said on his part that certain parties have an ambitious desire to compete wherever they like and did not want others to contend in certain polling stations, including Addis Ababa, according to ENA.

It is reported that the representatives of EDUM and SDFC walked out of the Second General Assembly of the Forum that took place in Addis Ababa on Sunday.
