Alemtsehay Misganaw wins at the 73rd Manchester Women Road Race

Manchester (November 26, 2009) –  Alemtsehay Misganaw, an Ethiopian athlete who lives in New York City and who was fourth last year, won the 73rd Manchester Women Road Race in 25:25 to  receive the $3,000 first finish prize money.

Two other Ethiopians, Teyba Naser and Hirut Mandefro, who make their homes in Albuquerque, New Mexicoa and Silver Springs, Maryland finished 3rd and 5th respectively.

The 25-year-old Alemtsehay has been a regular on U.S. roads since 2003. She has competed in 15 half-marathons over the past 5 years, and posted victories in Yonkers, New  Bedford (twice), Danbury (twice) and  Memphis. She has a personal best time of 1:12.48, which she sets last fall at the  Philadelphia Distance Run.
