Ethiopia to host 2009 African economic conference

APA-Kampala( Uganda ) The fourth African Economic Conference (AEC) will take place this year in Addis Ababa , Ethiopia , from November 11-13.

According to Chawki Chahed the Senior Information Officer, Media Relations, External Relations and Communication Unit the conference will be held under the theme“Fostering Development in an Era of Financial and Economic Crises”.

The forum for high level debate on African development issues bringing together more than 500 economists and policy-makers, the African Economic Conference aims at improving access to information and research on economic issues and, as a consequence, the quality of economic policy-making in Africa.

Key discussants include outstanding scholars in various fields of economics as well as high-level policy-makers in member state governments.

Among those scheduled to address the forum include Jean Ping, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank, Abdoulie Janneh, United Nations Under-Secretary General and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, Meles Zenawi, Prime Minister of Ethiopia,
